Shiawassee Council on Aging 2026 Membership & Benefits

As of January 1, 2026, Shiawassee seniors, aged 60 years or older, who previously were considered SCOA members by paying the annual newsletter donation of $5.00 will need to complete a membership form and pay a membership fee of $20.00 to continue to receive the newsletter by mail as a benefit. You can always pick up a copy for FREE at the Senior Center or view it online at www.shiawasseecoa.org.

SCOA Board of Directors recognized that a concrete membership drive is needed to maintain the necessary mailing fees of the newsletter and to offer benefits or “perks” to seniors 60 years and older who live in Shiawassee County.

The members’ benefits are from January 1st to December 31st, regardless of paid membership.  Anyone who purchases membership in November or December will be grandfathered into the membership for the following year.

SCOA Annual Membership Fee: $20 per person for Jan. 1, 2026 – Dec. 31, 2026.

SCOA Membership Benefits:

1.      Mailed Newsletter to members only

• Mailed newsletters will only be sent to members. Newsletters are free and available for the public at one of the 3 senior centers or online at www.shiawasseecoa.org.

• It is the members’ responsibility to notify SCOA of their change of address. If your newsletter is returned, SCOA will not continue to send the newsletter until address is corrected.

2.      Exclusive members only activities/events as organized and scheduled with the site committees and site coordinators.

3.      Early purchase of Trip tickets for members at a member rate of $35 (subject to change)

• Tickets will be on sale first to members in good standing at member rate of $35 (subject to change) and then will go on sale for non-members the next day at a non-member rate of $45 (subject to change). If purchasing tickets for 2 people, both must be members. Disclaimer: Membership must have been purchased 30 days prior to the ticket sale to receive the membership rate and early ticket sale.

4.      A laminated membership card will be mailed to you.

• A fee of $2.00 for replacement membership cards.

5.      Members Only Swag as it becomes available.
